Goalkeeping is the toughest position in sport. It’s not up for debate.

Very few roles in sports have a different set of rules for one specific position. Very few more are subject to the level of pressure a goalkeeper receives. The closest role in another sport we can think of is the Quarterback in American Football, but these players are the highest paid and respected positions in their sport.

Goalkeepers do not receive this same level of praise.

Quarterback coaches are amongst the highest paid in their sport, with College coaches earning upwards of 1-million dollars a year. While goalkeeper coaches would love to earn that much, the reason we draw the comparison is that both the goalkeeper and quarterback require specialist coaching.

Yet in football, the goalkeeper often doesn’t have access to this. Grassroots Goalkeeping aims to change this.

Originally set up in 2022, our goal was to share goalkeeper content on social media to help grow the knowledge of the position. Maybe you’re a young goalkeeper who sees our tips on catching crosses, or maybe you’re a parent who has seen our match-day warmup video to help you child before the game. We wanted to share bitesize tips to help you develop your game.

Since then, we’ve reached 3,000 followers across our platforms and have begun offering goalkeeper coaching around Northamptonshire.

We don’t want to stop here though. We want to keep growing to offer more and more goalkeepers access to quality and affordable training, as well as more free tips and tricks via our social channels.
